Answer #1

We have to make the phylogenetic tree on the basis of chromosome number.

Human Gorilla Orangutan Chimpan-e -zee +48 chromosome + 46 chromosome

Human have 46 chromosome where as gorilla, orangutans and chimpanzee have 48 chromosome.

Human is the outgroup in the phylogenetic tree. Because human have different chromosome count from rest of the taxon.

The human's chromosome trait is ancestral.

Translocation mutations can happen to entire chromosomes – as happened in the ancestral species of the human lineage, giving us one less chromosome pair than our closest extant primate relatives (the chimps, gorillas, and orangutans). A far more extreme example of chromosome-number reduction due to translocations and fusions discussed in your textbook is ________. a. the seedless-watermelon cultivar b. the white Dutch rabbit species, whose members were entirely black before the occurrence of multiple translocation mutations c. the Indian muntjac...

Question 1: This question may be completed independently or as a group exercise. You have learned that humans have 46 total chromosomes, and chimpanzees have 48 total chromosomes. Use other textbooks in biological anthropology and biology (or reputable online resources) to find the number of chromosomes in other organisms. Give an organism with considerably more chromosomes than humans. Give an organism with considerably fewer chromosomes than humans. Did your findings surprise you? What did your research suggest about the relationship...

C++. Need some help getting started. We will also have the following two functions: 1. A mutate function that randomly modifies a chromosome. 2. A crossover function that takes two chromosomes and splits each one at the same spot, then combines them together. Our genetic algorithm works by iterating over generations of chromosomes via the following process: 1. Generate random population. 2. Since the 1980s, HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) has been infecting humans around the world causing the condition known as AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome). HIV, like all viruses, needs to enter cells and use their machinery to reproduce and spread. During HIV infection, the virus enters specific cells of the immune system (T-cells) by "docking" onto cell surface proteins, including one called CCR5 Genetic analysis of individuals who are naturally immune (resistant) to HIV have revealed that resistance to HIV...
