The procedure that is developed to identify cancerous tissue by counting the number of cells undergoing mitosis is cell counting by hemocytometer. if we will examine a normal tissue which undergoes mitosis, we can prepare a cell sample culture and could examine this culture with the help of hemocytometer. The cell count in different grids of the chamber is noted carefully. The whole grid contains 9 square while central area contains 25 large and 16 smaller squares inside the large ones, each with side 1 mm^2. Now if the sample culture from cancerous tissue is loaded into the chamber od hemocytometer, the grids will show higher number of cell counting as compared to earlier. Anything which is more far away from normal under all optimum conditions with uncontrolled growth and mitosis is considered cancerous. So hence this could be a procedure to identify the cancerous tissue by counting number of cells .
