According to the condition given the question, the colour of petals in the flower is controlled by two genes. The alleles of one gene are dominant over the alleles of other gene. The former is said to be epistatic over the latter and the latter is said to be hypistatic. This is a case of epistasis.

A_B_ = blue

A_bb = white

aaB_ = white

aabb = white

The given case is an example of complementary epistasis. In this type of interaction, the dominant alleles of both the genes interact with one another to produce a specific phenotype. Absence of even one of the dominant alleles renders the other allele unable to produce that specific phenotype.

Given, aabb (white) × AABB (blue) = AaBb (blue) = F1

AaBb × AaBb = 9 blue : 7 white
