Answer #1

5) silent mutations are point mutation which changes one codon, but the amino acid does not change ( this is due to the degeneracy of the genetic code, that is one amino acid can be coded by more than one codon). so silent mutations do not have an effect on the protein.

missense mutations are point mutations that change the codon to another codon, this changes the amino acid, some times the new amino acid has similar properties to the original amino acid, so missense mutation does not always lead to lose of the function of the protein.

frameshift mutations are due the insertion or deletion of nucleotides which are not in the multiples of three, so the reading frame changes from that point, so the amino acids downstream to the point of mutation changes.

point mutations are due changes in one nucleotide, missense mutation, silent mutations and nonsense mutations are point mutations, non-sense mutation introduces a premature stop codon so truncated proteins are produced. but all silent mutations are not deleterious as non-sense mutation.

so the answer is c) frameshift mutations because they mess up everything after the point of mutation.
