Answer #1

1) both parents are heterozygous means both parents have the dominant allele and the recessive allele. since the six fingers is the dominant trait phenotype of both parents is six fingers and their genotype is Ff.

Fathers phenotype: six fingers, Mothers phenotype: six fingers

Father`s genotype: Ff, mothers genotype: Ff

both father and mother can produce 2 types of gametes F and f.

gametes produced y father F and f.

gametes produced by mother are F and f.

Ff * Ff

F f
F FF ( six fingers) Ff( six fingers)
f Ff( six fingers) ff ( five fingers)

Probability of getting progeny with six fingers= number of progeny with six fingers/total number of progeny=3/4

probability of getting progeny with five fingers= number of progeny with five fingers/total number of progeny=1/4

2) genotype of the father heterozygous for six fingers is Ff and genotype of the mother with five fingers is ff

Ff * ff

F f
f Ff( six fingers) ff ( five fingers)

probability of getting progeny with six fingers= number of progeny with six fingers/total number=1/2

probability of getting progeny with five fingers= number of progeny with five fingers/total number of progeny=1/2
