Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) is the molecular biology technique of amplification of a specific DNA sample. Agarose gel electrophoresis is a technique separating DNA fragments of different sizes ranging from 100 bp to 25 kb. Agarose gel electrophoresis is a widely used technique for analyzing the PCR results.
Representation of the Gel
DNA of baked products was isolated and PCR technique was used for amplification of DNA, to analyse the PCR product agarose gel electrophoresis. The agarose gel electrophoresis represents the PCR amplification of the DNA sample of baked products.
Lane L represents the ladder, it is a molecular-weight size marker also called as the DNA ladder and is used as a standard to identify the molecular size of the DNA molecule that is run on a gel. 100bp ladder is used as the molecular marker.
C represents the premise control, it is controlled without template DNA and can be also called as a negative control as there is no amplification of DNA due to the absence of template DNA. It detects the contamination of the PCR components.
N represents the control biscuit sample, A positive control that gives the positive amplification in PCR. If negative amplification is detected then it indicates that the PCR reaction is not worked.
Lane 1 represents the amplified PCR sample of inner lectin, at it shows a band of size 118bp. Lane 2 represents the amplified PCR sample of EPSPS, at it shows a band of size 110bp. Lane 3 represents the amplified PCR sample of TNOS Soy genome, a band of size 110bp amplified as PCR product. Soy genome CaMV35S promoter is amplified and represented on Lane 4 of the agarose gel representing the amplification at 181bp. EPSPS-TNOS is amplified and represented on Lane 5 of the agarose gel representing the amplification at 210 bp.
Lane F represents the 50bp ladder on the second gel and is used as a standard to identify the molecular size of the DNA molecule that is run on a gel. Lane 6 represents the amplified PCR sample of zein, at it shows a band of size 84bp. hsp-70intron 1-cry1 A is amplified and represented on Lane 7 of the agarose gel representing the amplification at 95bp.
Hope this helps. I have explained the basic representation of gel If you need other details regarding the gel please comment and please rate the answer.
