Ans 11) If you observe neatly,you can see that the bacteria are spherical in shape which means they are cocci or coccus. (They are not bacilli because bacilli appears as rod shaped i.e slightly elongated).Cocci can be single,double (diplococci), or they can occur in chains and clusters. Here in the given figure,you can observe the cocci to occur in both chains as well as clusters.

The bacteria stained purple or violet which suggests that the bacteria is Gram-positive cocci. Gram-positive bacteria has thick peptidoglycan cell wall and this is the reason why it can retain crystal violet stain and appear as violet or purple in colour. (Gram negative bacteria on the other hand has thin peptidoglycan cell wall and thus cannot retain much crystal violet stain and gets counterstained by saffranin and appears to be pink in colour).
