1. The enzyme responsible for substrate level phosphorylation is succinyl thiokinase.

Explanation: succinyl thiokinase is also known as succinyl coA synthetase where succinyl coA is converted to succinate .This is a substrate level reaction where GDP and Pi condense to form GTP and hydrolyse suucinyl coA.
