Quorum sensing

It is the process of cell to cell interactions that permits the bacteria for regulating their gene expression & to share the information regarding the cell density. This process includes the generation, detection & the response to the signalling molecules known as the autoinducers. This autoinducers increases as the density of the population rises, & the bacteria checks this situation to identify the variations on the cell numbers & regulates the gene expression accordingly. Some of the bacterial members are : E.coli, H. pylori, Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
