Histones H1 is a linker histone that can affect nucleosome packing.

Histone are positively charged protein, help in DNA packing. Histone protein is of two types- Core histone proteins and linker histone proteins.

Core histone forms an octamer and DNA wraps on it, forming a nucleosome. Example- H2A, H2B, H3, and H4.

Linker histone help in linking two nucleosome unit. Example- H1.
