Answer #1

b= per capita birth rate in population

d= per capita death rate in population

r= per capita rate of growth in population

for lynx

N0=100 ; b=0.55; d=0.05

N1= N0+(b-d)N0 = 100+(0.55-0.05)100 = 100+50= 150

N2= N1+(b-d)N1 = 150+(.55-.05)150 = 150+75= 225

N3= N2+(b-d)N2 = 225+(0.55-0.05)225= 225+112.5 =337.50 = 338

for hare

N0=100 ; r=0.03

dn/dt=rN0= 0.03*100=30 then N1= 100+30=130

N2=130+30=160

N3=160+30=190

Predator prey model captures the dynamics of the both organisms using the following equation: dN -=rN - ANP 4 = baNP-mP dt 1) What is the meaning of the parameters r, a, b and m in this model? (20pts) 2) In the first equation dN/dt=rN-aNP, explain what is the logic behind multiplying the abundances of the prey and the predator (NP). (10pts) Using this model and posing each equation equals to zero and solving this,...

    Problem 1 In simple predator-prey models, sinusoidal functions can be used to model the oscillating populations of two species of animals in the same environment. As the population of the predator species increases, the population of the prey species will decrease. If the number of prey gets too low, the population of the predator species will suffer from limited resources and start to decline. In this problem we will be modeling one population of rabbits (the prey) and one population...

    ation is not necessarily harmful to the prey population. Predation might act as an important means of keeping the prey population within the limits of its food supply. The grap h shown in Figure 3 represents a theoretical cycle that evolves in a predator-prey relationship. Assignment Predator / Prey Objectives Reading from and writing to text files Implementing mathematical formulas in C++ Implementing classes Using vectors Using command line arguments Modifying previously written code Tasks For this project, you will implement a simulation for predicting the future populations for a group of animals that we’ll call prey and their predators. Given the rate at which prey births exceed natural deaths, the rate of predation, the rate at which predator deaths exceeds births without a food...

    Feral animals are animals that were domesticated but have reverted back to the wild. Populations of feral goats exist on many islands around the world, left by previous settlers or sailors who wanted to establish a source of fresh meat for future visits. Consider a population of 100 feral goats in which 75 individuals are solid black and 25 individuals are black and white spotted, the recessive phenotype. Calculate the frequency of the black allele (B) and the spotted allele...

    QUESTION The rough-skinned newt, Taricha granulosa, is a common prey species for garter snakes, Thamnophis sirtalis. odotoxin biosynthes s in newts is poary understocd, but its mechanism of action is known: the toxin binds to the Voltage-0ated Na channel found on the membrane of nerve cells and bigcks actico pctentias in nerves and muscles Garter snakes that prey on newts become poisoned if they eat TTX-producing newts. However, resistance to TTX has evolved in some garter the votage-gated sodium channel...
