A) needs more information about where the gene are located on the chromsome

B) the alleles for one gene cannot be in the somatic cells as somatic cells do not undergo meiosis.

C) option C is the best suitable among the others because the alleles that are the alternative forms of the gene are present on the homologous chromosome ie they are at the same loci carrying the gene for the same characterstic. The gametes then eventually fuse to form the zygote.Also during gamete formation the number of chromsome are reduced to half ie they will carry one gene for each characterstic.

D) phenotype can be determined but the fusion of the gametes is not clearly explained here.
