Answer #1

The diploid cell formed by the fertilization of the egg by the sperm during sexual reproduction is Zygote.

Zygote is a single cell formed by the fusion of two gametes. It contains diploid set of chromosomes. It is the first stage of development. Then grows and divide to form fetus.

Meiosis is a reductional division. It usually occurs during gamete formation. This process of cell division is divided into two stages Meiosis I and Meiosis II.

In meiosis I one diploid cell divided into two haploid cells.

In meiosis II each haploid cell further divided into two haploid cells. After one meiotic division 4 haploid daughter cells produced.

So If a cell contains 5 pairs of chromosomes at the beginning. Then after Meiosis I there will be 2 daughter cells with 5 chromosomes in each cell.
