Answer #1

When cells are grown for a number of generations in a medium containing radioactive thymine , their DNA contains radioactive thymine nucleotide in thier complete DNA .(Ignoring initial two cells which have 50% old DNA)

When these radioactive thymine containing cells are grown in a non radioactive thymine medium and they replicate once , then only 50% of their DNA would have been radioactive or we can say that only 50% part of these cells would have been radioactive(As the semiconservative nature of DNA).

When DNA is replicated , it contains one old strand and one newly synthesized strand. If the initially the complete DNA was radioactive , then in non radioactive medium , one helix will be newly synthesized and one will remain same , the 50% DNA will now been radioacitve only.

Please explain each part !! Thank you !! #3. Under experimental conditions, you purify a known, biologically important peptide from human tissue. To determine the overall sequence, you then digest the pure peptide with trypsin and chymotrypsin (each separately) and then use mass spectrometry to identify the following sequence fragments from the overall peptide (shown in order of relative length, not necessarily in the order in which they are assembled in the whole, natural peptide). Trypsin cleavage products: Chymotrypsin cleavage...

    1. Which of the following statements is FALSE? Helicase activity 'unwinds DNA making the double-stranded molecule into single strands. b. The leading strand of DNA is started by an RNA primer The lagging strand of DNA is synthesized as "Okazaki fragments", cach with its own RNA primer. DNA replication proceeds in both directions around the bacterial chromosome. DNA polymerase synthesives new DNA in one direction (3 to 5) only. 2.
