The antibiotic selection markers are:

CAT antibiotic selection markee and amp^r marker.

Action:

* CAT gene is inserted in the plasmid. The CAT gene encodes Chloramphenicol acetyl transferase. Such plasmid is inserted in the bacteria. The transformed and untransformed bacterias are grown on Chloramphenicol antibiotic containing media. The transformed bacteria grows here. Because CAT gene detoxify the drug by adding acetyl group to Chloramphenicol. Untransformed bacteria can not grown.

* amp^r gene containing plasmid is inserted in the bacteria. The transformed bacteria and untransformed bacteria are grown in ampicillin containing media. The transformed bacteria grows only whereas untransformed bacteria do not grow.
