transcription: the process of producing RNA using DNA as the template

Replication: the process of producing new DNA strand using DNA as the template

translation:: the process of producing protein by the ribosome.

splicing: the process of removal of introns and joining of exons to get the mature mRNA in eukaryotes.

phosphorylation: the process of addition of phosphate group.

alternative splicing can occur, alternative splicing is the differential removal and addition of exons, so from a single gene, different mRNAs can be produced, that is from a single gene different proteins can be produced.

alternative splicing can increase the number and the variety of proteins so the answer is splicing.
