apolipoprotein is produced from the APOB gene in the intestine by an mRNA editing process;Besides alternative splicing, organisms can synthesize different proteins from the same gene by modifying bases in the RNA through the process called RNA editing. An example of RNA editing in humans is apoB synthesis in intestinal cells. Apolipoprotein B (apo B) is a key protein component of chylomicrons which are assembled in the small intestine to transport exogenous cholesterols and the triacylglycerols (also called triglycerides). The apo B is the product of apo B gene. In the liver, this gene is transcribed into mRNA, which is responsible for apo B protein. Apo B is essential for the transport of endogenous cholesterol and triacylglycerols in the blood. However, in the small intestine the same size mRNA is used to produce apo B.

hence it is due to mRNA editing process known as RNA splicing
