A gauge pressure is smaller to the absolute pressure.

An absolute or true pressure is equal to the summation of atmospheric and guage pressure, i.e.:

P(absolute) = P(guage) + P(atmospheric).

And since the atmospheric pressure is always a positive quantity,

Thus, absolute pressure will always be greater than that of gauge pressure.
