False

Leaves appear green because chlorophyll absorbs all wavelengths of the visible spectrum except the wavelengths corresponding to the green colour. In other words chlorophyll reflects green colour hence leaves appear green. The colour of an object is defined by the light it reflects back and does not absorbs.
