Answer #1

Answer:: In occursulin secretion will occur at a lower level of glucose

Reason:- Glucokinase serves as glucose sensor in pancreatic beta-cells and in other glucose sensor cells in the body. Glucokinase, the isoform in liver, has kinetic properties that allow it to capture much of the dietary glucose that enters the liver from the intestines via the portal circulation. This high capacity uptake provides glucose for conversion to glycogen or fatty acids. The high Km also minimizes the uptake of glucose by the liver during fasting, thereby preventing unnecessary synthesis of glycogen and the development of hypoglycemia. Glucokinase also is present in the pancreatic B cells that produce insulin so that the intracellular G6P increases only when the blood sugar is elevated following a meal. Insulin induces synthesis of glucokinase to help the liver adapt to repeated high carbohydrate meals.

In beta cells, glucokinase activity serves as a principal control for the secretion of insulin in response to rising levels of blood glucose. As G6P is consumed, increasing amounts of ATP initiates a series of processes that result in release of insulin.

Required: I need to paraphrase the answer because it is plagiarized. . Question: What is the function of beta cells in the pancreas? Answer: Beta cells (β cells) are a type of cell found in pancreatic islets that synthesize and secrete insulin and amylin. Beta cells make up 50–70% of the cells in human islets. In patients with type I or type II diabetes, beta-cell mass and function are diminished, leading to insufficient insulin secretion and hyperglycemia. The pancreas is...
