Would a mammal that lives in an unusually hot environment have larger than normal lungs if they are panting more? We did a dissection of a cow with 30lbs lungs which are abnormal compared to the average bovine lungs at 7 or 8 lbs. My professor would like an answer as to why and I am having a hard time finding resources. Please Help!

Lungs have to cool the warm air and make it adaptable to the body temperature. Therefore, lungs may adapt to gain more size for cooling the air in a warm atmosphere. However, the same things in reverse-phase happen when cool air inhaled by the lungs; warm the air to meet body temperature. Still, there is no research on the lung size varying according to the temperature of the weather. Therefore, we cannot interpret the effect of cool and warm air on the lungs.
