Answer #1

Pattern of inheritance: Autosomal Dominant (Since the trait occurs in all the three generations, it is dominant. The trait equally occurs in males and females, so it is not sex linked and is autosomal.)

Genotypes:

Let the dominant trait allele be A, and the recessive normal allele be a.

I-1 - aa (unaffected)

I-2 - Aa (heterozygous, given)

II-1 - aa

II-2 - Aa

II-3 - Aa

II-4 - aa

II-5 - Aa

II-6 - aa

III-1 - Aa

III-2 - aa

The five progeny of I-1 and I-2 receive an a allele from I-1 and either A allele or a allele from I-2, making them either unaffected or affected respectively. Hence their genotypes are aa or Aa respectively.
