Answer #1

Ames test is done in orer to study whether the unknown chemical is a mutagen . In the test performed, two unknown chemicals as given in the question can be tested or identified as a mutagen or non-mutagen.

Let us first understand the procedure of Ames test with two unknown chemicals:

in cas AMES TEST e f CONTROL TEST SAMPLE I TEST SAMPLE J. he Rat liver extract & Salmonella strain with his Rat liver extract

Now because we are not sure whether the two mutagens are actually mutagens or is the result a false positive or false negative one , we can do the following three confirmatory tests:

  • MLA/HPRT- Gene mutation selection
  • Micronucleus test - to see the changes in the structure and number of chromosomes by separating the nucleus from the growing cells
  • Chromosomal aberration test - by separating the chromosomes

    1. After reading the paragraphs below, answer the questions that follow. Recent studies suggest that flame retardants, chemicals that are used to slow down burning, can mimic estrogen hormones found in the human body. Scientists investigating this phenomenon developed three-dimensional images to show how the chemical structure of certain flame retardants allows the retardants to bind to and inhibit an enzyme (estrogen sulfotransferase) that metabolizes estrogen. Suppose the scientists want to conduct a study of the effects of flame retardants...

Your goal is to separate the cutting agent from the drug. You will also need to test the compound purities. Acid/base extraction is one of the more difficult principles in organic chemistry to understand. The most straight-forward approach to understanding...

An experiment to compare the tension bond strength of polymer latex modified mortar (Portland cement mortar to which polymer latex emulsions have been added during mixing) to that of unmodified mortar resulted in x = 18.18 kgf/cm2 for the modified mortar (m = 42) and y = 16.88 kgf/cm2 for the unmodified mortar (n = 30). Let uz and uz be the true average tension bond strengths for the modified and unmodified mortars, respectively. Assume that the bond strength distributions...
