Yes, we can susbtitute some of the protein coding gene of human to yeast gene. As human and yeast show homology in gene and also in amino acid that's because we share a common ancestor with yeast, and we also share hundreds of genes that haven't really changed, we called them conserved sequence. Our genome contains counterparts to one-third of yeast genes. And on average, the amino acid sequences of comparable yeast and human proteins overlap by 32%. Researchers found that when more than 400 human genes were inserted into yeast cells one at a time, almost 50% of the genes functioned and enabled them to survive. Due to these similarities in gene, human genes are even used for the survival and growth of yeast and prevent them from dying.
