Question

It has been known for +50 years that many plant cells are totipotent and can be used to regenerate new plants from. Key argument in support of that comes from leaf disc cultures in which new organs can be induced from differentiated epidermal, mesophyll and vascular cells (in figure). Explain to the best of your ability what is likely to happen on a molecular level and how cytokinin exposure can lead to shoot formation, and auxin exposure can lead to root formation. Explain also why many undifferentiated cells form in in response to high concentration of both cytokinin and auxin.

Answer #1

Answer:- Above experiments suggests thant when there is low cyokinin and high auxin it induce roots formation, this is becuse when auxin is present in high level and low cytokinin it induces auxin response factor to bind dna and induces transcription for protein which then develops roots. and when there is high cytokinin and low auxin , cytokinin binds to histine kinase receptor which phosphorylates protein and lead to ativate transcription factor which grow shoots. when there is high concetration of cytokinin and auxin is present there is only undifferentiated because they oppose each others effect.
