Epigenetic regulation can open or condense section of a chromosome, regulating which genes are transcribed.

Epigenetic regulation is quite common in eukaryotes and rare in prokaryotes.

Pre-mRNA can be spliced to produce different final mRNA molecules during post-transcriptional regulation.

Post-transcriptional modifications are restricted only to eukaryotes. Prokaryotes do not have nucleus. Hence, the transcription and translation are simultaneous processes. Translation starts on the mRNA which is being transcribed.

RNA silencing and post-translational modifications of proteins happen both in eukaryotes and prokaryotes.
