Q) How does social learning theory explain Behavior?? (in health care)

Social learning is all about learning new behavior by copying other people's activities or behavior. Social learning is one of the theory which explains how a person can change their behavior by just observing others. for example- A child observe his parents then try to act like them , talk like them.

Social learning theory can be applied in any field like Education, Sports etc but i would tell you about its use and application In Health care industry. In healthcare, We see Doctors, Nurses, staff person in healthcare, so how this theory can tell us about their behavior.

In Social learning theory, These people can act as Mentor or can act as Mentee and create their behavior by observing each other.i want to give you an example-

Suppose you take admission in a hospital to do you Medical degree and in last year you have to practice with senior doctors then what the intern would do is to observe all the activities, decision making, behavior etc of senior doctor then try to imitate that into its own behavior.in this situation senior doctor act as Mentor to student as mentee.so social learning is great way to describe person;s behavior and changes occurs along the way.

Social learning has another concept in healthcare called Vicarious reinforcement, in which rewards and punishment plays crucial role to make behavior in a person. for example- A Nurse in a healthcare setting sees that another Nurse is getting reward because She has been polite, working long hours and showing good behavior with patients then She would be initiated by that reward and try to observe that Nurse that what factors making her earning reward then Copy her style or behavior.
