Answer #1

Ans.1-The role of the root tip: The cells of root tip are actively dividing to form new cells.

Ans.2-The role of the root cap: Root cap contains cells that cover and protects underlying growth regions as the root pushed through the soil.

Ans.3- Meristem region: The region of cell division (meristem) where cells are actively dividing but not increasing significantly in size.

Ans.4- The purpose of plant roots:

(a) Absorption of water and nutrients from soil.

(b) Conduction of absorbed water and nutrients to stem.

(c) Storage of food.

(d) Anchoring of plant and soil binding.

Ans.5- Onion root tip are used to study the different stages of cell division, as root tip contains highly dividing cells.
