2. Cetraria islandica (iceland moss) are used as food.

3. Many lichens like cetraria and Cladonia are used as fodder.

4. Orchil obtained from Roccella is purified to form orcein, a dye.

5. Litmus solution is obtained from Roccella tinctiria.

6. Peltigera (dog lichen), Parmalia etc. are used for curing hydrophobia, epilepsy.

7. French perfumes have ingredients obtained from lichens like Lobaria, Everenia etc.

8. Astringents obtained from Lobaria, Cetraria are used in tanning leather.

9. Yeast is used in baking industries.

10. Chemicals obtained from Lobaria is also used to cure tuberculosis.
