Answer #1

Sexually producing individuals depend on mating and sex.It leads to the fertilization of egg and reproduction process later. The variations and development of species with better characteristics takes place in sexually producing individuals.

Whereas in asexual individuals, there is no need of male partner, the female itself leads to the production of clones. But, the variation is not seen and the progeny is basically a replica. Therefore, they are less fit as compared to sexually producing individuals.so, option(c) , sexually producing female are three times as fit as asexually producing animals.

F1 offspring : XXGgBb and XYGgBb Note: You can ignore the X and Y chromosomes here in question 4. Why? The traits of interest (fire-breathing and laser-shooting) are autosomal, so the sex of the fly (XX=female or XY=male) will not impact the trait expressed. You only need to follow the inheritance of chromosomes 2 and 3 for...

need help with this .. From the pages 571-587 attached below. 1a) Suppose a population of guppies was infected with a parasite. In that population a mutation results in a parasite resistant genotype that spreads through the population through natural selection. A subsequent mutation in the parasite results in a genotype that is unaffected by the newly evolved resistant guppy genotype. NTRODUCTION Under nearly all circumstances, postzygotic reproductive isolation cannot evolve under the direct action of natural selection. Instead, postzygotic isolation evolves as a by-product of other genetic changes as proto-species diverge. In contrast, natural selection can directly act to enhance prezygotic reproductive isolation. Consider two species with overlapping ranges. If hybrids between the species are less fit than pure species individuals, females that mated with heterospecific males would be at a selective disadvantage, because their resulting offspring had low fitness....
