If parent cell has16 chromosomes and undergo meiosis, the resulting cell will have 16/2= 8 chromosomes. Option (d) is correct answer.

Meiosis is a type of cell division in which from a parent cell 4 daughter cell produced with half of the number of chromosome from parent. Generally gemete formation occurs via meiosis. It is also known as reductional division. Beacuse the chromosome number get reduced to half of the parent cell's chromosome.

Thereby it helps to maintaining the chromosome number of the foetus after the fertilization of male and female gemetes.
