1) Since the birds with brown chest feather alleles are dominant in the population. But as the question says that birds with yellow chest feathers attract more males and leaves more offsprings that indicate that it is because of natural selection. As a consequence of natural selection, a particular species become better adapted to their environment in order to survive and reproduce more than those less adapted to their environment.

The effect on the gene pool is that the frequency of the yellow feather alleles increases in the population.

If a hurricane kills many birds in the population randomly, that clearly indicates there is a sudden change in the gene frequency in the population, that is called as genetic drift.

The effect is that the allele frequencies change but not predictably.
