Folivorous animals have elaborated stomach, so that they can congest more food at one session and then to give sufficient time to the bacteria to digest them properly. And in these animals we can see enlarged hindguts (Caecum-it’s a diverticulum present at junction of small and large intestine) and these are also aid in proper digestion of the food ingested in large quantities. The colon is also enlarged to help them in their digestion process. The cheek pouches present on both sides of the head helps the animal to collect the food fastly and to carry the food in their pouches.
