Answer #1
  • Career decision-making are one of several essential choices adolescents will perform in determining future goals. These decisions will affect them throughout their lives, the essence and who students are will revolve around what they want to do in their lifetime. Yet every adolescent is unique in this process depends on the context in which, an adolescent find he or her identity, and what opportunities they might have influenced their career decisions.
  • Values-Students whose cultural values are individualistic will demonstrate self-independence, competitive attitudes, and high proportions of high capacity of thinking, planning and deciding on their own careers.Adolescents in the individualistic cultures have a tendency to evaluate and follow those opportunities those would enable them to make good decision on their career and life in general.Adolescents in the collectivistic cultures are more influenced by society and family in making their career decisions rather than driven by their own individual attitude.Their value system is more inclined towards what effect the career they choose might have on their family.
  • Freedom-Adolescents in western individualistic cultures are more free to making career decisions which will make them financially independent and lead their seperate lives.Owning their own,car and paying their own bills rather than depending on their parents.
  • On the other hand, students whose cultural values are based on collectivistic will prefer to utilize regulations that benefit, protect, and honor the entire community with little effort to maintain an individual‘s career aspirations.
  • Youngsters belonging to eastern cultures, like the Indian cultures, make career decisions based upon whether they would be able to take care of their family. They are more driven by monetary incentives a job will provide them,to not only make them financially independent but also fend for the wellbeing of their families, share the expenses and also save for their own and their family's healthy future.People in eastern cultures are more driven by family values and have lesser individual freedom to make their career choices and therefore their career decision is also heavily influenced by these family values.
  • Incentives-Also they can make their lives out of non-conventional careers as well, which are not the typical 9-5 kinds. They can pursue their dreams of becoming an artist or a photographer and earn money from that. They are not really confined by family and society demands of making the conventional career choice.
  • Young adults in eastern cultures are required to choose a career which is conventional like doctor, engineer, bank manager etc. which guarantees a solid financial foundation.Parents usually disregard their child's dream of becoming a dancer or an actor since they feel these careers do not guarantee a future, which is why many youngsters have to curb their passions and do jobs which they do not really believe in just for the sake of their family and their well being.
