During the semester, you will probably hear about an interesting new development in geology. This required Discussion Question entails making a post with a new and interesting geologic information that you come across during your daily life. For this assignment, you must include a 1-paragraph write- up (150 words minimum, which is about the length of this paragraph) with details about the new information, a link to the website and/or post a picture, and your thoughts about how it relates to the class, using appropriate geology terminology, complete sentences, capitalization and punctuation. The news story must be less than 1 year old, reported by a reliable news source, and cannot be about your personal experience (sorry!). Note that you cannot make a post about the same article that someone has already posted, but you may make a post about the same news event from a different or more recent source. This initial post is due by midnight Wednesday. The other thing you must do to receive full credit is to make 3 replies to someone else's post. (A minimum of 4 posts total.) About the Magnetic fields of the Earth

As we all know that the Earth is divided into three different layers that are Crust, Mantle, and Core and we were taught in the class that Earth's core is responsible for the magnetic fields of the Earth because of the abundance of the Iron in liquid form and this is solely responsible for the magnetic fields of the Earth but researchers have now claimed that Earth's core is not solely responsible for its magnetic fields but Mantle which stretches from 35KM to 2,900 KM also has the abundance of hematite and iron which shows the magnetic properties which we do not acknowledge.

Magnetic fields have its significance of the Earth and due to the combination of Mantle and core, this magnetic field becomes stronger and researchers by the observations of the Mantle come to the conclusion that Both Mantle and Core are responsible for the strong magnetic fields on the Earth.
