The presence of enzymes speed up the rate of chemical reaction, in the absence of which the rate of reaction would be slow and the process inefficient. As soon as the substrate is accepted by the enzyme to carry on the reaction, the active site on the enzyme undergo changes and it accepts the substrate. However, if the changes are beyond the threshold then the active site is incapable of accepting the substrate thus reducing the rate of chemical reaction. During denaturation of protein the secondary and tertiary structure of protein undergo changes while the primary structure remains intact.
