Your answer should address the subject of enzyme substrate specificity.
Correct, detailed (paragraph explanation) needed for thumbs up
The reaction between PNPA and esterase enzyme is a perfect example of enzyme substrate specificity. Each enzyme have specific affinity to bind to a specific substrate and catalyze the conversion of substrate into product. In this case, enzyme is esterase which is a hydrolyase enzyme because it convert Ester into acid and alcohol using water. The enzyme specificity is calculated by Km(michaelis-cinstant) . When pNPA substrate come in contact with enzyme esterase, this enzyme convert into acetic acid and p-nitrophenol (alcohol). Since, pNPA is a p-nitrophenol acetate, which is an Ester, this this enzyme specificity catalyzes it and convert into acid and alcohol. The enzyme need water to perform the reaction, so it is called as hydrolysis reaction.
The reaction is following :

Please answer all.... Thank you! 57) An enzyme binding site with a specific shape can bind only those having a complementary shape; thus, the shape of the protein molecule determines the specificity of the binding site the affinity of the binding site the saturation of the binding site the counding strength of the binding site Two of the above are correct. 58) A cell is what it is because of the instructions it receives concerning the types of proteins (enzymes...

Compare competitive and noncompetitive inhibition Question Suppose that glycerol (CH,OHCH(OH)CH,OH) is a substrate in an enzyme-catalyzed biochemical reaction and propylene glycol (CH OHCH(OH)CHZ) is an inhibitor of the reaction. Would you expect propylene glycol to be a competitive or noncompetitive inhibitor? Why? Select the correct answer below: O It is likely that propylene glycol would be a competitive inhibitor because it easily binds to glycerol. O It is likely that propylene glycol would be a competitive inhibitor because it has...
