Your essay will address the following:

  • Explain which leadership style you find to be the most effective: transactional, transformational, autocratic, democratic, liberal, or servant. As part of your explanation, include a detailed description of the leadership style and why you find it to be the most effective.
  • Include examples of leaders who have successfully utilized this leadership style to increase the performance of their followers.

According to my point of view, Transformational leadership style is to be most effective. Transformational leadership style is that in which leaders encourage, inspire, and motivate employees to innovate and create change that will help to grow and shape future success of the company. Transformational leadership is a style of leadership where a leader works with teams to identify needed change, creating a vision to guide the change through inspiration, and executing the change in tandem with committed members of a group. It is an integral part of the full range leadership model.

The concept of transformational leadership given by James V. Downton in 1973 and was further expanded by James Burns in 1978. In 1985, researcher Bernard M. Bass expanded the concept to include ways for measuring the success of transformational leadership. This style provides coaching and mentoring but allowing employees to make decisions and take ownership of risk. It holds an emphasis on authenticity, cooperation and open communication.

I found it most effective because it allows followers to make decisions and take ownership of risk and with these leaders also provide coaching and mentoring. It is a mixture of autocratic and liberal leadership style. It is most effective in today’s environment where people want guidance with some kind of freedom to execute what they learned.

Examples of transformational leaders-

1. Richard Branson is the founder of the Virgin Atlantic Group. He believed that his leaders have to motivate employees, and this will make company successful.

2. Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon Company. he commands a disruptive company, he uses cultural change to drive engagement, he communicate powerful narratives about the future and develops a road map before disruption takes hold.

3. Mark zuckerberg- he is known as being a motivator who inspires his staff of employees with a clear vision of the company’s future. He further defines the steps necessary to achieve such goals needed.
