For compartment A

Given \psiP (pressure potential ) = +0.14 MPa

\psiw (water potential) = -0.31 MPa

\psiS (solute potential ) = ?

we know the formula for water potential is

\psiw (water potential) = \psiP (pressure potential ) + \psiS (solute potential )

\psiS (solute potential ) = \psiw (water potential) - \psiP (pressure potential )

= -0.31 - 0.14

= - 0.45 MPa

For compartment B

\psip = + 0.28 MPa

\psis = -0.66 MPa

\psi w = ?

\psiw (water potential) = \psiP (pressure potential ) + \psiS (solute potential )

= +0.28 + (-0.66)

= -0.38 Mpa

For compartment C

\psis = -0.11 MPa

\psi w =-0.11 MPa

\psip = ?

\psiw (water potential) = \psiP (pressure potential ) + \psiS (solute potential )

\psiP (pressure potential ) = \psiw (water potential) - \psiS (solute potential )
