Allopathic speciation is also called as geographic speciation and it is defined as the speciation takes place when there is a migration or immigration of the species from one biological origin to ther other either by continental drift or by mountain formation or by island formation.

There by the population of the similar species become vicariant and avoid further genetic interchange or exchange, genetic drift will come into place that means populations start to drift autonomously. For exapmle The genus Gondwanan has evolved and it is due to the continental drift beacuse before Africa and Australlia have same geograpical land. Therefore vicariance is a essential antecedent to allopatric speciation.
