Two species of foxes are observed to have overlapping geographic ranges. Describe how this speciation event could have resulted from: allopatric, peripatric, parapatric, or sympatric speciation.

Allopatric speciation of these foxes will be caused when the two foxes living in two different areas of Geography come and interbreed with one another to give rise to progeny with intermediate phenotype.

Parapatric species arise when some of the species living of the area move towards the peripheral zone and occupy a separate Habitat there.

Peripatric speciation arise when some of the individuals of the population move to a nearby area but it is completely different from the previous area.

Sympatric speciation will arise due to genetic polymorphism between the species of these two foxes. Initially they were not able to interbreed but afterwards they started interbreeding giving rise to progenies with new variations.
