  3. Diploid primary spermatocytes pause at prophase I of meiosis.
  4. Haploid secondary spermatocytes are produced.
  5. Secondary spermatocytes undergo meiosis II.
  6. Haploid spermatids are produced.
  7. Continued differentiation during spermiogenesis yields mature haploid sperm cells.
