Hi,

the correct answr is option (D), May not generalize the results to other contexts

Explanation: One major limitation of experimental research is that studies are typically conducted in contrived or artificial laboratory settings. Results may not generalize or extrapolate to external settings. Two exceptions to this rule are natural experiments and field experiments. Natural experiments document and compare the behaviors of subjects before and after some natural event; e.g., floods, tornadoes, hurricanes.

When looking at psychological research, it is generally thought that experimental research methods provide the best tool for conducting research. However, some research illustrates that correlational studies and other descriptive methods provide an equally important opportunity for conducting research. After completing this week's readings, discuss the benefits and disadvantages of using an experimental design. In your discussion, be sure to examine how the different research procedures might help to convey results to different audiences. For example, would observational data be...

Create a research question using the General Social Survey that can be answered by multiple regression. What is your research question? What is the null hypothesis for your question? What research design would align with this question? What dependent variable was used and how is it measured? What independent variable is used and how is it measured? What other variables were added to the multiple regression models as controls? What is the justification for adding the variables? If you found...

A researcher wonders whether speed of service at a diner is affected by whether a male customer is wearing a suit jacket. One of the major learning objectives of this chapter is to define a factorial research design, including the terms factor and level, and to identify and describe factorial designs when they appear in a research report. The goal of experiments is to establish the existence of a cause-and-effect relationship between two variables. To accomplish this goal, the researcher manipulates one variable (that is, the independent variable) and measures a second variable. Nonexperiments and quasi-experiments are similar to experiments except that...
