Answer #1

a.]The frequency of the red allele is 1/3

b.] The frequency of the blue allele is 2/3

c.]The frequecy of heterozygotes is 1/3 considering the blue tail feathers has half of them as homozygous dominant and the other half as heterozygous for dominant.

d.] 1/3 will be the amount of birds homozygous for the blue allele.

e.] 1/3 that is all the birds are homozygous fr the red allele since blue is dominant onlt a recessive homozygous geneotype would allow the red phenotype.

    22. You perform an experiment to test whether female birds prefer males with longer tail feathers. You find that they do, and, in fact, they prefer even longer tail feathers than you ever see on males in the population. Assuming that this trait has had enough time to evolve to an optimum, what is the most likely explanation for why tail feathers are not even longer in the population?

    4. In a given population, 16% of the population has blue eyes and 84% has brown eyes. Although eye color is a polygenic trait, let us assume for this problem that the brown-eyed allele is dominant to the blue-eyed allele and that the population is in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium. What are the gene frequencies for brown eyed and blue-eyed alleles? = '16 Pa Brown-eyed allele frequency: _ qe 0.4 Pa 0.4 Blue-eyed allele frequency: - In this same population, there are...

can i get help with these 2 problems? In the yawncat (a rare hypothetical animal), the black coat color allele B is dominant to the brown allele b, but the B locus can only be expressed if the animal has an mm genotype at a second gene locus. Animals that are M_are yellow regardless of which allele from the B locus is present. a. A mating between a yellow-tailed male yawncat and a brown-tailed female yawncat produces 16 offspring with...

A population of flour beetles has 1000 individuals. Normally the beetles are red in color; however, this population has a utation in the gene for body color that results in black beetles that are designated by the rr genotype. Red body color is dominant to black so the genotypes RR and Rr result in red beetles. Assume the population is in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium, with a 50% frequency of each allele for body color. A) --- what is the frequency of...

In this population there are some blue animals and some yellow animals. The blue color is determined by the dominant allele B, while the yellow color is determined by the allele, b. In this population you find 11,000 blue camels and 7,000 yellow camels. If a predator comes through and eats half of the yellow animals before they reproduce, what will the new allelic frequencies be?
