Calculate G_eq in the circuit of following figure:

We know that, the equivalent conductance G_eq of N resistors in series: 1/G_eq = 1/G₁ + 1/G₂ + 1/G₃ + ..... + 1/G_N

AND the equivalent conductance G_eq of N resistors in parallel: G_eq = G₁ + G₂ + G₃ + ..... + G_N

Here, G₄ and G₅ are in series. ∴1/G_s1 = 1/G₄ + 1/G₅ = 1/6 + 1/12 = 4S

G₁ and G₂ are in parallel. ∴ G_p1 = G₁ + G₂ = 8 + 4 = 12S

G₃ and G_s1 are in parallel. ∴ G_p2 = G₃ + G_s1 = 2 + 4 = 6S

G_p1 and G_p2 are in series. ∴1/G_s2 = 1/G_p1 + 1/G_p2 = 1/12 + 1/6 = 4S

∴ G_eq = G_s2 = 4S [Ans.]
