Answer #1

Considering a Koala bear

Each somatic cell have 16 chromosomes

It is the diploid number of chromosomes in a Koala cell.

that is 2n = 16 chromosomes.

When a male Koala Bear undergoes meiosis to produce sperm, having haploid number of chromosomes, due to meiosis/ reduction division in gametes

That is n =8 chromosomes.

Here there are four statements given regarding this

- The value of n for the koala is 8.

This is true. The haploid number of chromosomes = n =8. since 2n = 16

- After DNA replication, the Koala's cell will have 32 chromosomes.

This is wrong. After DNA replication Koala's cells will have diploid number of chromosomes = 16

- The sperm cell of the Koala will contain 16 chromosomes.

Wrong statement. The sperm cell of Koala contain haploid number of chromosomes, since it have undergone meiosis/ reduction division . n= 8

- After meiosis 1 , cell will have 8 chromosomes.

This is correct. After meiosis 1, each cell have haploid number of chromosomes =n= 8. Meiosis 1 is reduction division, chromosome number is reduced to half.

so statements 1 and 4 are True.

True statements-

* THE VALUE OF N FOR THE KOALA IS 8.

* AFTER MEIOSIS 1, A CELL WILL HAVE 8 CHROMOSOMES.
