When people consume drugs on a regular basis, they often develop dependence. Though these drugs are prescribed by the doctors, they fail to visit doctors again and continue to use drug without doctor's advice. They come to need the drug and cannot function without it. Two types of dependents exist there. Physiological dependence occurs when the need of drug is based on organic factors, such as changes in metabolism.
People can also develop psychological dependence, in which they experience strong desire to continue using the drug even though, physiologically, their bodies do not need. Psychological mechanisms probably contribute to these dependence. Physiological and psychological dependence often occur together and magnify individuals craving for and dependence on specific drugs.
In United States the young people now suffer from many types mental problems. They need to use many types of depressants. Therefore they fail to leave these depressants . They also use various types of stimulants like amphetamines and cocaine. They also use opiates. These types of drug alter sensory perception. For the treatment of the chronic mental diseases the doctors need to prescribe these types of drug for a short period. But they fail to stop these drugs. When they are addicted they cannot leave these types of drug.
