Communication is the act of exchanging information between the entities. Communication process mainly involves three elements viz. sender, message, and receiver.The communication barriers carry incorrect meaning due to which misunderstandings may be created and the barriers may lead to your message becoming distorted.There are many barriers to communication and these may occur at any stage in the communication process. They are: Psychological Barriers, Organisational Barriers, semantic barriers, personal barriers, Cultural Barriers, Linguistic Barriers etc.

Psychological barriers: There are several mental and psychological issues that may become barriers to effective communication such as speech disorders, phobia, anxiety, depression,anger etc. All of these conditions are very difficult to manage sometimes and this emotional or psychological factors cannot carry the message properly. To overcome this barrier, at the time of communication, both the sender and the receiver need to be psychologically sound. In the workplace, you should need to learn more about how your emotions work and how to manage them.

Organisational barriers:There are many methods of communication at an organizational level and most of the barriers arise because of lack of appropriate transparency available to the employees in the organisation.The major organisational barriers include rules and policies, hierarchical positions, facilities of the organisation,complex organisational structure. By adopting several methods like a) Improving interpersonal relations in organization, b)giving orientation about organizational objectives, policies, procedures, programmes, authority relations to employees, c) Using proper language, d) communication through actions etc. are helpful to overcome the organisational barriers.
