Based on the Report Climate Change and Cities, the three most important issues to address by 2030, 2060, and 2100 are sea level rise, annual temperature variation and the water scarcity due to the water table degradation.

When we talk about sea level rise, we need to find the solution as soon as possible because some of the coastal cities and some small islands are already in a state of submerge. As an example, In Buenos Aires, damage to real estate from flooding is projected to total US$80 million per year by 2030, and US$300 million per year by 2050. Thus, we need to act it very seriously because many other small and developing countries such as Maldives, Bangladesh, Indonesia etc are affected due to this sea level rise caused by climate change.

Now, the annual temperature variation/fluctuation is increasing more as we compare today with 1970s to 1990s and project those data into 2040-2069. We can find large variations in coming years and this variation has high impacts on the formation of cyclones and hurricanes on the ocean. More the global temperature variation more will be the formation of many more atmospheric hazards. Heat wave, drought are already creating into some tropic lands but this fluctuation in temperature will cause more heat wave, drought into mid-latitude areas and some coastal area will have to face more precipitation and flash flood. Thus, this global warming and temperature variation should be addressed within 2060 or earlier than this.

Then, the water scarcity comes in terms of global problem by 2100. Many of the peoples are telling that next world war will happen for the water!! It means the water scarcity and water table lowering will be the large problem in many mega cities and low rainfall area. Because the increasing population needs more water supply but create more pollution. This will lead water scarcity as well as the human health will be impacted more because of lack of pure water and sanitation. The loss of water recharge area and increase of concrete buildings will create a real troublesome to all the people within 2100 or earlier. Thus, this water scarcity and human health due to pollution and low sanitation has to be addressed as soon as possible but no later than 2100.
