Animal physiology help. I need help with part a a

I need help with part a and part b.

for part a, this is as far as I've gotten. The numbers on the left are the contents inside the cell and the numbers on the right are contents outside of the cell. I have converted everything to mM. H+ is hard to see becuase only 10 um passed through the membrane to go outside of the cell. (i dont know how to show this line better on my excel graph so if anyone could make any suggestions.)

This is how the excel graph is supposed to look, but i dont know if my lines are correct. to get the line for Cl, I simply added all of the solutions together, since they all contain Cl. I am not sure what to do with Calmodulin, though. I know that it binds calcium, so will that affect the amount of calcium that is going to pass through the membrane?

I have calculated this: 50ug = .00005g.

Calmodulin is 16700 Da or .02773g.

So there is 12.02 mM of Calmodulin on the inside of the cell. I dont know if these calculations are right. (I assumed 150 ml beaker since there is no indication).

part b: how would i assume has the largest volume? would it be Ca or K?

Answer #1

A. As far for the graph is concerned, all your values are correct. I assume that Calmodulin would be bound to the Ca+2, so the calculation is right.

B. K+ would have the largest volume as to achieve equilibrium K+ solution has to move more. With calmodulin most of which would be bound to Ca+2 so the volume would be less compared to K+
